Mission & History

CISTERN has as its purpose the development of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for orphan conditions and diseases. Currently, we are working to develop guidelines for rare soft tissue malignancies that manifest in the skin and subcutaneous tissues. To minimize bias and maximize the generalizability of our guidelines, we include physician members from multiple medical specialties, and professionals from allied health fields, as well as both US and international members. We do not accept any monies from commercial organizations, pharmaceutical or device companies, or other entities with a financial interest in the development of guidelines.
